Welcome to the warbler

Gathering is an art. It requires the right place, the right spirit, and the kind of attention that makes people feel, without being told, that they are exactly where they should be.

On St. Charles Avenue, in the heart of New Orleans, we are a hotel for people who travel to feel something. Who linger over a meal, stay for one more drink, and leave already thinking about when they'll return.

Our Name

The Warbler is a small but distinct songbird — vivid, unhurried, and entirely at home in the Garden District. The male Magnolia Warbler, first illustrated by John James Audubon in 1821, is a study in beautiful contradiction: bold black and brilliant yellow, geometric and free. A bird that announces itself without apology.

Our Story

The Warbler is inspired by a man named Henry.

Robert Henry Sarpy, Jr. was, by all accounts, an experience as much as a person. Disarming, confident, playful, and smart: he had a gift for making everyone around him feel genuinely seen. His family owned Terry & Juden, a haberdashery on Carondelet Street that operated for 103 years. The kind of place where patrons knew the salesmen and adored the tailors, where friends often met and rarely rushed to leave.

That is the spirit The Warbler was built to carry forward.

Henry is in the details.

A Jazz Celebration in the Garden

Forward-looking in its vision, The Warbler marries architectural precision with a nostalgic harkening to the Jazz Age. Inspired by the bold geometries and fluid lines of the Streamline Moderne movement, The Warbler's rich, graphic interiors evoke the gracious service and unbridled revelry of that era's great social clubs.

Deeply Local

The Warbler was built with Intention. The Warbler was developed and built by a remarkable team - all with deep roots in New Orleans. We are of New Orleans in the fullest sense — connected to this city's culture, its people, and its neighborhoods. Not inspired by it. Of it.

the best of the garden district

1923 St. Charles Avenue is more than an address. It’s one of the great corridors of American urban life: shaded by ancient live oaks, traced by a historic streetcar line, alive with the kind of energy that only accumulates over centuries.

St Charles Ave is the spine of the city and the backdrop of generations of local families. The Warbler sits at the center of it all.

Food and Beverage

The Warbler offers three unique places to eat, drink and gather. The Cafe eases from coffee to cocktail. Mildred’s opens for drinks before dinner and stays open for one more round. And Upstairs - our rooftop bar and pool - is the kind of place you find at the end of an evening, and always leave a little too late.
